There are many great things about contracting with the U.S. government. The government spends a lot of money, they pay promptly, and they give many opportunities to small businesses. One of the problems with government contracting is that the government does business very differently than most clients.
To contract with the government, a business has to do many things differently. Proposals to the government can be extremely complex, and the contract will have dozens of contract clauses that you must comply with. Any business that is just starting to work on government contracts needs someone with experience to ensure that all requirements are met.
During most of my career, I specialized in managing government contracts for businesses. I wrote over 700 government proposals ranging in value from a few thousand dollars to tens of millions of dollars. I developed contract budgets, managed budgets, and invoicing. I oversaw compliance with all contract requirements. My experience can help a business that is just beginning to perform work for the government as well as a company that is established in the field.
