When I first studied technical writing as an undergraduate (in the mid-1980’s), I learned how to write, edit, and produce all kinds of traditional paper documents. I did not focus on the world of online publications because it did not exist yet. Obviously, during my career, new kinds of online publications were created. Websites, social media, and other types of online content are the norm today. Even old fashioned documents like the ones i used to work with in college are most often published on line in today’s world rather than printed on paper.
